SocialBar: Let’s talk about the online social scene2011-11-01 0
Born in Berlin and now living in 14 cities throughout Germany, Genunix (genunix.org) is a melting pot of web activists, social entrepreneurs, NGO’s and the like; looking to strengthen social responsibility. All this is done by raising awareness through industry-experienced speakers and (of course) over a round of beers. Thus, this casual but serious exchange of ideas gave birth to SocialBar.
Ethical issues and internet startups: How the two can peacefully coincide
On the cards for tonight’s SocialBar event are three key issues:
New opportunities for developing countries
The founders of non-profit online business Knowable (knowable.org), will be speaking about their upcoming social network. Simon Höher and Emanuel Schwarz aim to connect creative and alternative ideas to solve everyday problems in developing countries.
Online marketing: An upcoming lesson in social media
With more than 20 million facebook users online in Germany, the social-media giant has rapidly evolved into a powerful marketing tool; locally and globally. Many tech-savvy sellers are jumping on the facebook bandwagon to lure in potential customers. But how can non-profit organisations benefit? Web Developer Sebastian Gardener, sheds light on how NGO’s can create more reach by going beyond their fan page.
Social Media 911
Social media manager Paula Hannemann, from the World Wildlife Fund (www.wwf.org), will be sharing her experiences on maximising social media networks for emergency situations. Hannenmann has advised countless companies about brand management and communication strategies and acquired the ‘know-how’ in using online marketing and media.
