Rocket Internet sets up new outpost in Portugal2012-05-24 2
Rocket Internet is continuing its massive 2012 expansion with the uncovering of a new Development Centre in Porto, Portugal. The centre has been in development since the beginning of the year and has already recruited 130 staff in less than four months.
Managing Director and CTO Miguel Pinto, himself a Web Dev of 10 years confirmed that the base will be purely for technical development and that the hiring spree for suitably qualified tech-heads would continue apace, with spots for junior and senior developers through to project managers to join the swelling ranks of Rocket worldwide.
Why is Portugal on the Rocket roadmap?

The Centre could also act as a bridge to other Portugese and Spanish-speaking territories in South America.
The Rocket plan for global domination
The Rocket quest for world domination seems to be gaining even more traction, thanks in part to Access Industries recent investment of $200m and some €300m from Kinnevik so far this year. It’s thought that the company is opening up new companies worldwide at the staggering rate of one per week, having already created 15,000 jobs this year, despite controversial claims over working environments. As well as opening up subsidiary offices in Munich, the Samwers seem to have their sights firmly set on more far-flung opportunities in markets ripe for their cloning models, including:
