Vend rings up $2 million, led by Berlin’s Point Nine
San Francisco- and Auckland-based online point of sales (POS) platform Vend just secured $2 million from a global investment consortium led by Point Nine Capital in Europe. Tech titan HP to cut 27,000 jobs
Ouch. Hewlett-Packard will cut 27,000 jobs (about eight per cent of its workforce) in a bid to recover from management missteps and competition from innovative rivals. It’s HP’s largest payroll purge in its 73-year history and is expected to generate annual savings of $3bn to $3.5bn by the end of 2014. Read more on Bloomberg Business Week
Airtime nabs $25M weeks before launch, snaps up social experience startup Erly
Sean Parker’s mystery video startup AirTime is set to debut on 5 June, but that’s not stopping the company from making news today. AirTime received $25 million in second round funding led by Kleiner Perkins, joined by Andreessen Horowitz, Accel Partners, Google Ventures and Social + Capital.
