Just in! And the winner of the Founder Institute Scholarship is…2012-11-12 1
We posted a competition to win a scholarship with The Founder Institute last week and after much deliberation, CEO and founder Adeo Ressi has announced Capsuling.Me as the lucky recipient for the program in Berlin.
Capsuling.Me co-founder Michael Ronen, pitched his business idea in one (albeit, breathless) sentence: “Our company is developing a location based mobile app to help art-fans in big cities who consume videos and music on smartphones and tablets to overcome the overflow of irrelevant media by presenting them only relevant and meaningful content depending on their current location and time, with the special sauce of exclusive site-specific content created by high profile artists from our community.”
An honorable mention went out to the team behind RydeMyPony.com, a not-so-serious site whose pitch left the team at VentureVillage rather amused. Check it out: “Our company, RydeMyPony.com, is developing a P2P location based Pony rental platform to help Pony owners and Pony lovers to finally collaboratively consume Ponies together!”
All in all, Ressi was impressed with the quality of startups on offer, along with the Berlin businesses that are already attending The Founder Institute program in Berlin. He commented on the winners, saying ”Capsuling.Me’s pitch is detailed, and clearly demonstrates the product, market, and customer problem. There should have been more explanation on the ‘secret sauce’, but in the end it is a very strong pitch and was the winner of the competition. We look forward to helping Michael launch a meaningful and enduring company with the Founder Institute.” For more on Ressi, check out his full interview feature here.
Director of The Founder Institute in Berlin, Sascha Karstädt, told VentureVillage that this semester’s session is almost booked out with only two more spots available. If you’re interested in filling one of them, email Berlin director Sascha Kärstadt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, make sure you keep your diaries clear for these upcoming Founder Institute events in Berlin. This Wednesday, 14 November is the Founder Night Out, where you’ll meet old graduates from the program (think Ondango) and network in the Lindenbräu at Potsdamer Platz. And if you’re confused about the impossibly complex German legal system, the Institute can help you out, offering an orientation session for Berlin newbies who want to start a company.
